sserwambala Nelson Gamuggale is a man shaped by life, values, and responsibility. Raised in a village by his grandmother from the age of three, his journey is a testimony that wisdom, discipline, and love can shape destiny even without privilege. He is the author of Another Father, a true-life story written to preserve African wisdom, mentor the next generation, and guide parents and leaders in a fast-changing world.
Early Life and Foundation
Born on October 30th, 1975, at Rubaga Hospital in Kampala, Sserwambala Nelson Gamuggale’s life took a defining turn at the age of three when he was taken to live with his grandmother, Manjeeri Kibirige Nakate, in Kagogo village, Masaka District.
It was under her care that he learned the values that would shape his life: discipline, responsibility, faith, gratitude, and planning. She raised him with structure, not comfort; with wisdom, not excuses. Though she had no formal education, she was a natural leader, mentor, and teacher whose lessons were lived daily.
That upbringing became the foundation of everything he later built.
The Grandmother Who Became “Another Father”
Manjeeri Kibirige Nakate did more than raise a child. She stepped into the full role of a father, guiding, correcting, mentoring, and preparing a young boy for life.
Through farming, household responsibility, discipline, and planning, she taught leadership without titles and management without classrooms. She believed education was non-negotiable, character was wealth, and responsibility was love.
It is her life, wisdom, and leadership that inspired the title Another Father. This page, like the book, stands as a tribute to her legacy and the countless unsung heroes who raise generations without recognition.
Education
and Personal Growth
Despite growing up in humble conditions, education remained central to Sserwambala’s journey. Encouraged by both his grandmother and later his parents, he pursued learning with discipline and determination.
Walking long distances to school barefoot, balancing studies with responsibility at home, and learning resilience early in life shaped his work ethic. These experiences taught him that success is not accidental, it is built through consistency, sacrifice, and purpose.
Career, Business, and Entrepreneurship
Sserwambala Nelson Gamuggale is the founder and principal of St. Majorine Junior School in Mukono District, a school established to give children a strong foundation in both academics and values.
In 2004, he also founded First Flight Group of Companies, which began as a courier service and grew into a multinational enterprise operating across East Africa, with interests in logistics, agricultural exports, and international trade facilitation.
Beyond business, he is a committed farmer, deliberately preserving the agricultural legacy passed down from his grandparents. To him, farming represents discipline, patience, sustainability, and responsibility.
Mentorship as a Calling
Mentorship is not a side role in Sserwambala’s life, it is a responsibility. Over the years, he has mentored hundreds of young people in Uganda, East Africa, and beyond.
Many of those he mentored now serve as leaders in education, business, and community development. His approach to mentorship is practical, consistent, and values-driven, focused on discipline, integrity, responsibility, and purpose.
This calling is what led him to write Another Father, so that mentorship could continue even when he is not physically present.
Why He Wrote Another Father
At the age of 50, Sserwambala paused to reflect on his life and realized that many African families carry deep wisdom that is never written down. Too many stories are buried with elders.
Another Father was written to preserve that wisdom, honor those who raised him, and provide a practical guide for parenting, mentorship, and leadership in the digital age.
The book is not about fame or wealth. It is a gift, to families, to young people, and to future generations.
